AF Curriculum Requirements

We are all working so hard to maintain and expand the reach of AFCDAA.   It is vital that each parent/Member understands that the development of the child/member as a dancer, actor, vocalist and musician will be solely based upon their attendance to class.  It is equally important that the child/member attends class on time and come prepared.

  • Each student will be considered late if they arrive 10min after the start of class.  A curriculum has been developed for each division for proper advancement.
  • The child/member will not develop appropriately unless they are in attendance.
  • Please understand that if the child/member does not attend class their spot will be given to someone else.

Biblical Instruction – The Anointed Feet Christian Dance Academy is developing Ministers of their art form, therefore, they will be mandated to attend all biblical instruction.  A class schedule will be given before classes begin.  The biblical instruction is only for ages 10 & up and will be for a period of 8 weeks beginning in January. The biblical instruction is based on a curriculum title “The Decision Path” and is designed to assist students with making Godly decisions as dance ministers and for life.

Babies Class – The ages for this class are 3-6. Students learn discipline by following class instruction. They develop hand, eye coordination through movement with music comparable to their level. By presentation students have been introduced to ballet, praise and tap and are able to remember their dance and placement.

Panto-Dance – This style is created and unique to Anointed Feet. Panto-Dance is the dramatic fusion (the process or result of joining mime and praise dance genres together to form the single entity of Panto-Dance) Anointed Feet’s signature ensembles all were created in the form of Panto-Dance. In this class dancers express meaning through dance movement accompanied by music with the fusion of mime and praise. At times other styles are fused as well such as: ballet, hip hop, tap, or liturgical dance.

Liturgical Dance – is described as a form of movement which serves as an expression of worship, which typically occurs within the presence of a church, worship service, and even at home. Even though the definition remains straightforward, the meaning of Liturgical dance holds great purpose, and many biblical stories pertain to this genre of dance.

Turns, Leaps and Jumps – In this class students will learn basic, advanced and unique turns and leaps. gt7t87ty87uyuiyuoiy8oiuiuoiuoiyhuiytuiguihuhuihuihuThey will also be taught the fundamentals to achieving these TLJ, as well as different sequences and routines to strengthen them.

Step – In Step an atmosphere where footwork, precision, and formation are greatly important. We practice controlling the body while chanting at the same time. Taking lessons from ballet, “chin up, shoulders down, chest lifted, everything tight.” It is instrumental when teaching precision and placement. We work with a metronome to practice keeping time. Students have the tendency to speed up when they are confident in their moves, but we must keep time so that every step, clap, arm movement is placed at the same time. Step is strong, step is power. When we get on the floor you know we are coming through hard.

Ballet-In this class students learn the foundation to dance technique and terminology. Students learn body placement and alignment. They learn to control their movement and build strength. Barre and across the floor combinations are imperative when developing a dancer. The levels for ballet are beginners, intermediate and advanced. Students are not allowed to move to the next level until they have mastered the current level.

Tap – A rhythmic dance in which the heels and toes of the dancer’s shoes make a series of clicks. the dancer clicks metal taps fixed to the heels and toes of the shoes in rhythm against the floor. a dance in which the rhythm or rhythmical variation is audibly tapped out with the toe or heel by a dancer wearing shoes with special hard soles or with taps.

Gymnastics – Gymnastics teaches participants how to move, flip, roll, jump, swing and turn upside down. Gymnastics is an exciting activity and sport for its unique contribution to general fitness, coordination, agility, strength, balance and speed. Gymnastics provides a sound foundation in movement for boys and girls of all ages. This allows everyone to develop their whole body which is useful in all other sports and activities. This technique helps with the flexibility of a dancer’s body.
